Vitamin A Premix

Vitamin A is one of the fat-soluble vitamins that play an essential role in vision, the formation of epithelial tissue, and bone growth. Vitamin A also plays an essential role in strengthening the defense barriers against bacterial and viral infections by increasing growth and protecting the epithelial and mucosal tissues in various organs of the body. Deficiency of this vitamin causes dryness and keratinization of all epithelial cells, including the outer skin of the body and internal epithelial tissues such as mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, genitals, as well as eyes (exophthalmos). This facilitates the permeability of pathogens and reduces the strength of the animal's resistance. Vitamin A deficiency in poultry is associated with symptoms such as stunted growth, decreased egg production, decreased fertilization, increased fetal mortality and fetal death on days 2 and 3 of incubation, and visual disturbances. In ruminants, a change in the condition of the mucous tissue of the female animal's genitals causes infertility, and if fertilized, the fetus' nutrition is disrupted, resulting in incompleteness or abortion. Vitamin A is also essential for the metabolism of sex hormones. The deficiency of this vitamin delays the regeneration of the corpus luteum and affects sperm production and quality in male animals. Also, estrus appears with mild or asymptomatic symptoms (silent estrus) and eventually leads to reduced fertility. Night blindness and diarrhea are other symptoms of this vitamin deficiency in ruminants. Vitamin A premix is used to prevent the symptoms of deficiency or to treat vitamin A deficiency in poultry feed.
